Living Space Makeover

As seen in Cobb Life magazine

About this Project

With desires to update the entire living space of their 1980s home, the Labonte family would rely on our creative solutions to pull this whole house remodel within budget without sacrificing a truly remarkable outcome. By incorporating as much of the existing casework and kitchen layout as feasible we were able to save expense on new cabinetry, avoid additional electrical costs to meet mechanical or code compliance, and limit the disturbance of finishes that would lead to higher remodeling costs. Doing so allowed just enough financial flexibility to make sure hardwood floor refinishing and painting would also be possible. At the time of the remodel faux finishes and warm, natural tones were already the trend. This would be the key to updating the existing elements so that replacement would not be necessary. In partnership with Jackie Howell at Wonderfaux Walls, this project really became a showcase for our custom carpentry skill set and the artistry of her specialty. In the end, this project totally encompassed solutions, originality, craftsmanship, and quality which have become our trademark.

Unfinished basement turns into a guest suite and a place to brew beer
Season 3, Episode 9

About this Project

David and Kerstin Adelman often have her family from overseas visiting for long periods, so they want to remodel their unfinished basement creating additional living space as a guest suite and family room. Host Chip Wade and crew have a design challenge at hand so that David, an avid homebrewer, will not have to sacrifice an area for his hobby in the process. When Level One was asked to partner in another episode, Thom and Brian, who are craft beer lovers, jumped on the opportunity to lend their skills to execute and manage this remodeling project. It’s hard to decide on whether the state of the art, electric brewing kitchen or massive glass-panel projection TV window added to open the space up is their favorite design feature in this spectacular project. Custom milled wood paneling throughout adds warmth to this modern and vibrantly designed basement.

HGTV Kitchen, dining, office and living space remodel
Season 3, Episode 3

About this Project

Back from a 6-year stay in Alaska, Beth, Patrick, and their four children had become accustomed to open space and have outgrown their segmented floor plan. Host Chip Wade and design crew want to give Beth a great room where she can oversee the kids from her kitchen, “the command center.” All partition walls were removed within the living space, which required structural modifications. Level One tackled the most substantial beam they’d ever worked with before. The kitchen is repositioned to face both the living room and the study. A custom fire pizza oven has walls flanked with reclaimed wood from an old barn to give it a sense of warmth and history.
